Julia Bridger
Born in Toronto, Julia moved to Winnipeg at age fourteen to train in the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School’s Professional Division. She was the inaugural recipient of the Evelyn Hart Scholarship, among other awards. After graduation she toured as an Aspirant with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet (RWB), performing in ballets such as Swan Lake, Giselle and The Nutcracker. While touring, Julia fell in love with Victoria, BC. When the opportunity arose, she joined Ballet Victoria (BV).
BV became Julia’s home where she made lifelong friends and danced in lead roles such as Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Snow Queen in The Nutcracker, and the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella. She was honoured to accept opportunities to appear and travel with other companies such as Harbin Ballet and the Wuxi Song & Dance Theatre, and to return to the RWB as a guest dancer in Balanchine’s beautiful ballet, Serenade.
Julia is grateful for the administrative experience she gained alongside her dance career at BV. She held many roles in the office over the years, such as BV Conservatory Registrar, Executive Assistant, Finance Manager, Donor Relations Manager, and Marketing Coordinator.
After a decade of dancing professionally, Julia started a new chapter as a student at the University of Victoria in the fall of 2024. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. Along with teaching at Victoria Pilates, Julia is thrilled to share her passion for movement and dance with the wonderful students of the BV Conservatory.
